Offering a place to rest and regroup at the hospital
while dealing with the uncertainly of illness or injury, parents of critically ill and injured children are often reluctant to leave the hospital.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room® is located on the 1st floor of The Baylor Scott & White McLane’s Children’s Hospital in Temple. It is a special place where families who live in the local area, as well as families who have traveled long distances and may be staying at the Ronald McDonald House® of Temple can rest while staying close to their hospitalized child.
Open 365 days of the year, the Family Room offers a comfortable home-like setting including a living room area with a television, a kitchen stocked with snacks, showers and a laundry facility. The Family Room also offers the use of computers to stay in touch with families, friends and workplace responsibilities.
Because the Family Room is meant to be a respite area for parents and family members, patients are not allowed. Our caring staff and volunteers support nearly 8,000 visitors each year. When the medical condition of a child is critical, the Family Room is an oasis amidst the busy hospital atmosphere–keeping families close.
Family Room hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
